1. I DON'T CARE - In truth, we do care! It does hurt, yet we choose to repress it because we fear being vulnerable. To us, vulnerability is a sign of weakness, however it shows immense strength, acceptance and humility.
2. I HAVE MOVED ON - Guilt, shame, fear, sadness and anger need to be worked on, as they are a sign of the ego showing up. While remembering the incident or person involved, if we still experience the ego acting up, we haven't moved on. There is still a lot of healing required.
3. I DON'T HAVE TIME - All of us have the same number of hours in a day. If we are honest, we actually don't prioritise the activity/ person/ our emotions involved. Since we cannot admit it out aloud, we opt to say the easiest line - there is no time!
4. I AM NOT GOOD ENOUGH - This thought or similar thoughts are a reflection of what we may have grown up hearing from others, or as a consequence of requiring validation and feeling accepted. It is a blatant lie and unfortunately, we may have started believing it and accepting it too. Working on one's sense of self concept and worth needs to take centre stage.
5. I DON'T NEED HELP - We are social animals, and it is inherent in us to be interdependent. Hyper independence is a sign of insecurity, lack of trust and also a way to make oneself feel better than another. However, seeking help reveals one's self awareness, acceptance of flaws, and willingness to do better.
"The easiest person to deceive is one’s own self." ~ Sir Edward Bulwer Lytton
